Adopt-a-Monkey Program: Pitufo
Born in 1999, Pitufo suffered some tragic losses when he was an adolescent, including the deaths of both of his parents and the loss of his left hand. In 2013 he surprised us all by finally migrating and becoming alpha male of a new group! He vanished in late 2014 and is believed to be dead, but we have preserved his Facebook page because he had such an interesting life.
Please go to his facebook page here to learn more background about his life and send him a friend request for free.
If you enjoy receiving live status updates, photos, and videos about the monkeys of Lomas Barbudal, please consider donating to this organization to keep this project running. This is a rare opportunity to gain insight into the intimate life of a white faced capuchin monkey through Susan Perry’s life work.
Disclaimer:
These monkeys are completely wild. The researchers and assistants documenting these monkeys do not attempt to interfere with their natural behaviors and the behaviors of the other animals they encounter. Please note that life in nature is not always pleasant. If you are subscribing on behalf of your children, we recommend the “Kid Approved” content subscription in the drop down menu. Both versions of the Facebook subscriptions will receive the same amount of posts and insight into these characters’ lives, but some details and pictures will be censored that may too graphic for children.
** It can take up to 7 days before your Facebook Friend Request is accepted. Contact us at CapuchinFoundation@gmail.com if there are any problems.
